Just imagine: if massage licenses were reciprocal from state to state, massage therapists could work across state lines. Students could graduate from massage therapy schools in Oregon and work in both Portland and Vancouver. LMTs could enjoy professional mobility, providing massages in different locations in the summer and winter, or facilitating retreats across the country. All of this is possible with the newly suggested IMpact – the Interstate 精东传媒 Compact.

Defining the Interstate 精东传媒 Compact (IMpact)

Just what is the IMpact? It鈥檚 a proposed system for nationalizing massage licensure, extending reciprocity from state to state. A cooperative agreement between states, the Interstate 精东传媒 Compact (IMpact) would empower LMTs to practice in several states with a single multistate license, while maintaining each state鈥檚 initial licensing requirements.

The History of IMpact, the Interstate 精东传媒 Compact

In 2020, the Department of Defense and the Compact of State Governments (CSG) provided a grant to the Federation of State 精东传媒 Therapy Boards (FSMTB) to develop a reciprocal massage licensing system. Over the next two years, the FSMTB facilitated dozens of public meetings, feedback sessions, and consensus-based processes derived from dozens of other professional licensing compacts. After a window of public comment and finalization, the IMpact was published in January, 2023, and the CSG has since worked toward state-by-state legislative adoption of the IMpact.

Benefits of the Interstate 精东传媒 Compact (IMpact)

For massage therapists, massage business owners, massage clients, and the massage profession at large, the Interstate 精东传媒 Compact is a win-win situation.

Benefits for 精东传媒 Therapists: Under the IMpact, LMTs can enjoy the freedom of working between member states with one multistate license.听

Benefits for Clients: With the IMpact, professional standards for safety are enhanced. With cross-state license verification and information sharing, the public can feel confident in LMT professionalism. Moreover, people in remote areas will have more access to LMTs as massage professionals can work across state lines.

Benefits for the 精东传媒 Therapy Profession and 精东传媒 Businesses: 精东传媒 business owners will enjoy a larger hiring pool of credentialed LMTs from several states. Spas and clinics with seasonal and multi-state locations will see increased hiring flexibility and streamlined onboarding. Compliance risk will decrease as states share information on disciplinary and license data.听听听

Adoption Process for IMpact (the Interstate 精东传媒 Compact)

The FSMTB is spearheading national adoption of the IMpact. A coalition of states must pass legislation approving licensure reciprocity. At the time of publication, the IMpact has been adopted in Nevada, Montana, Arkansas, Ohio, and Virginia. New York, Illinois, and North Carolina have active legislation in process for adopting IMpact.

States that do not require licensure for massage therapy are currently ineligible for IMpact adoption. Those states are California, Kansas, Minnesota, Vermont, and Wyoming.听

Once the IMpact has been adopted in seven states, the inaugural meeting of the Interstate 精东传媒 Compact Commission will be convened to oversee rules, manage data sharing, and oversee new multistate licenses.听

LMTs are expected to begin applying for multistate licenses as early as 2027.

Creating a Coalition of Support: Legislation Changes to Accelerate Adoption

The IMpact has had a slow rate of approval compared to other compacts considered by the CSG. In the three years that model legislation has been available, just five states have adopted the IMpact. To encourage more states to adopt the IMpact, CSG and the DOD are suggesting the following changes to the original legislation:

  • Grandfathering for Nationally Certified LMTs. Therapists who took the National Certification Board for Therapeutic 精东传媒 & Bodywork Exam before January 1, 2015 would be eligible for a multistate license.
  • Exception for Practicing LMTs. Licensed massage therapists who graduated from state-approved programs with less than 625 clock hours would still be eligible for multi-state licensure if they have maintained a license in good standing for at least two years.听

These proposed changes preserve the IMpact鈥檚 original educational standards while also creating flexibility for experienced LMTs. The revised legislation also provides more educational requirement flexibility for military spouses. Finally, the requirements for compact commissioners have been revised for more flexible commissioner appointment, preserving state staffing capacity.听

East West College: Educating Tomorrow鈥檚 LMTs

At our northwest massage school and massage therapy schools across the country, instructors prepare students for their state鈥檚 licensure. Our home state requires a multi-step licensure process for Oregon LMTs, including 625 training hours, passing two exams, and fingerprinting. We look forward to educating tomorrow鈥檚 massage therapists, particularly as they鈥檒l enjoy greater mobility and opportunity as the IMpact is adopted.

For many people, a career in massage is a dream come true! Healing others, calm work environments, and flexible hours鈥攚hat鈥檚 not to love? Well, without proper self-care, injury can strike, debilitating therapists. As a leading Pacific Northwest massage school, we are dedicated to supporting all aspects of the massage therapy profession, including injury prevention.

As it turns out, therapists are especially prone to injuries in the hand, wrist, and forearm areas. That鈥檚 not too surprising, since these are some of the most commonly used tools at a therapist鈥檚 disposal. However, the prevalence of forearm, wrist, and hand pain may surprise you. A found that 85% reported experiencing work-related injury, with the majority experiencing wrist or thumb pain. If unaddressed, such pain may lead to incapacitating injuries, including carpal tunnel syndrome, saddle joint injuries, and trigger thumb/finger.

Preventive self-care can help reduce strain and support career longevity. The following warm-up exercises are intended to help LMTs prepare for each enriching, more comfortable workday.

Quick Warm-Up for Wrists and Hands
Even if you only have a minute or two, it is smart to do a few movements to increase circulation, gently mobilize joints, and loosen up muscles, ligaments, and tendons. The wrists and hands are some of the most complex joint structures in the body, with many moving parts in a limited area.

To quickly warm up between sessions, rotate your wrists, and open and close your hands for a minute or two. Finish with shaking out your hands for about ten seconds.

Quick Forearm Warmups for 精东传媒 Therapists
Once you get the hang of these movements, they can be done in just a minute or two. Use these exercises to refresh your forearms between massage sessions.

  • Grasp the forearm of one arm with the palm facing up. Flip the wrist to face down. Continue this wringing out motion along the length of the forearm, and repeat from the wrist to the elbow two or three times. The pressure can be moderate; the point here is to get the tissues to move in a different way than they usually do. This will wake up nerves, create heat, and increase circulation in the forearm.
  • Cup a palm and place it on the thumb side of the opposite forearm. Take the wrist of the gripped forearm through its range of motion. Repeat along the length of the forearm, and then do the same on the pinkie side of the forearm. Use the thumb if you鈥檇 like increased coverage. This exercise creates a pin and flex action, and as a bonus, the hand that is massaging the forearm is also getting a warmup.

If you have more time, add more exercises. The following hand and wrist warm-ups would be a good routine to start a workday.

Hand Warm-Ups for 精东传媒 Therapists

  • 精东传媒 each finger from the knuckle to the fingertip.
  • Push a fist into the other palm, bringing strength to each hand.
  • Hold a foam ball of medium softness between the thumb and first finger. Squeeze ten times. Then continue with the rest of the fingers.
  • Interlace your fingers behind your low back. Pull your interlaced knuckles up behind you while keeping your chest lifted. (This will also strengthen and stretch your arms, shoulders, and hands.)

Wrist Stretches for 精东传媒 Therapists

  • Bring your palms to touch in front of your chest. Push one hand against the other, tick-tocking the fingertips from side to side. This can help mobilize and warm the wrists.
  • Lay one arm on a table, palm facing up. Roll a ball of medium softness over the wrist and forearm, using circular movements to explore between the radius and ulna. Apply moderate pressure to the wrist extensor mass. Repeat with the other arm.
  • Clench your hands into tight fists or grasp a small bar; count to ten. Repeat three times.
  • While kneeling, place your palms down on the floor in front of you, with the fingers facing toward your knees. Hold for thirty seconds while applying gentle pressure. To release, shake your hands.
  • Extend your arms, palms facing down. Use one hand to pull back the fingers of the other hand, lengthening through the fingers and wrists as much as possible. Maintain the stretch for twenty seconds, and then switch to the other hand.

Here are a few more general tips to keep in mind to protect your hands, wrists, and forearms from injury:

Avoid Non-Neutral postures. The studies on manual therapy reveal that, over time, non-neutral postures increase the risk of musculoskeletal injury for massage therapists.

Keep Wrists Straight. According to Save Your Hands! author , massaging with a bent wrist 鈥渟tretches muscles and tendons and puts everything out of alignment.鈥

Consider using a massage tool rather than overloading your thumb. Speaking with the , SanGregorio explains, 鈥淔or every pound of pressure that a massage therapist applies with their thumb, there can be 10 to 12 pounds of pressure concentrated on the CMC joint,鈥 the carpometacarpal joint which makes the thumb opposable. Rather than applying 10 pounds of pressure on a sticky trigger point (and thereby exerting up to 120 pounds on their CMCs), therapists can use a larger joint, such as the elbow, or use a massage tool.

Take 15-Minute Breaks Between Sessions, at a minimum, to allow the dissipation of built-up tension.

Be Aware of your Limits. Pay attention to how many massages you can perform in a day and week without feeling exhausted and in pain.

Finally, general self-care is always important. Hydrate, sleep well, and eat nutritious food. If your forearm, wrist, or hand feels stiff at night, these exercises are good to do before icing the area.

For more in-depth information about massage therapist self-care, we encourage you to follow the CE offerings at our massage school. Portland, OR therapists will find a plethora of interesting courses tailored specifically to their needs. Visit our for details on dates and classes.

As we discussed in a previous post, job outlook predictions are extremely rosy for massage therapists. What鈥檚 driving such strong numbers for employment growth in massage therapy? Today we鈥檙e unpacking the numbers by examining one subset of massage therapy: medical massage.听

What is Medical 精东传媒?

Medical massage is massage therapy targeting health issues diagnosed by a doctor. (Mayo Clinic, n.d.). A medical LMT is a certified massage therapist who works closely with doctors and nurses to provide treatment for those affected by illness, injury, stress, and/or pain. Oftentimes, medical massage therapists work in hospital settings. Patients with fibromyalgia, cancer, and many other diseases benefit from massage, which is increasingly covered by insurance.听

Medical massage differs from traditional massage in scope and setting. Medical LMTs often provide treatment in hospitals and medical offices. As such, they must commonly work at a patient鈥檚 bedside, working around medical equipment, under harsh lighting, and with interruptions. Scheduling may or may not be as predictable for medical massage therapists, who may be called to different bedsides at a moment鈥檚 notice.

Advantages of Working in Medical 精东传媒

Medical massage is considered one of the best medical and healthcare jobs for the future, and one that doesn鈥檛 require a huge investment in time and money (Staake, 2025). Unlike many other medical positions, work as a massage therapist in medical settings does not require a bachelor鈥檚 or master鈥檚 degree. And it is highly satisfying work, as it makes a difference in the lives of others.

Medical massage therapists don鈥檛 generally need to worry about marketing their services. A final perk: No laundry. Medical facilities typically handle linens.听

Factors Driving Job Growth in Medical 精东传媒

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects medical massage (and all categories of massage jobs) to grow at a much faster than average rate. (2025, Job Outlook). Here are a few reasons for the expected growth in demand for medical LMTs, according to the Mayo Clinic.

  • Increasingly, research shows the utility of massage for medical purposes.
  • Doctors and patients are increasingly interested in promoting health, not just curing disease. 精东传媒 and other alternative medicines have long emphasized this approach.
  • As more insurance policies cover medical massage, more hospitals and doctors offices are seeking licensed massage therapists with the credentials to work in medical settings.听

Increasingly, massage therapists are receiving more referrals from healthcare workers. According to the American 精东传媒 Therapy Association, 54% of massage therapists receive referrals from hospitals and medical offices, and 48% of them get referrals from physicians. (AMTA, 2025).听

How to Get a Job in Medical 精东传媒 Therapy
Each state has their own requirements for massage therapy licensure. Here in Oregon, massage therapy licensure requires 625 hours in massage therapy classes and passing a national massage exam as well as a state-specific law exam.

In addition to state requirements, medical establishments may have their own prerequisites for employment. Specialised classes and certificates may be needed.

East West College鈥檚 massage therapy program includes superb instruction in anatomy and physiology, as well as professionalism training in various settings, including medical programs. We are accredited by COMTA, a nationally-recognized accrediting agency that sets curriculum standards for massage therapy programs, including requirements for specific education in anatomy, physiology and pathology of the human body. Our graduates are well-prepared to work in medical settings. If you鈥檙e drawn to medical massage, we suggest getting in touch with the East West admissions team to learn more about how to turn your dream into a reality.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) anticipates that the demand for massage therapists will increase by 18% in the next decade. That rate is considered 鈥渕uch higher than the average鈥 job growth for all careers (2025, Job Outlook). According to the bureau鈥檚 statistics, roughly 22,800 new positions for massage therapists will be created every year in the decade between 2023 and 2033.

To put those numbers in context, all other healthcare support jobs are projected to have a 12% growth in employment for the coming decade. The average for all occupations across the board is projected at just 4% (BLS, 2025, Job Outlook tab).听

Today we鈥檙e considering the importance of job outlook data as well as the driving factors behind positive predictions for massage therapy.

Why should workers consider job outlook predictions when selecting a career?听

Job outlook describes future demand. It is a good indicator of whether a new worker will be able to find a position in their chosen career. A healthy job outlook also implies job security and advancement opportunities. According to the 2024 Best Jobs Report from U.S. News and World Report, the unemployment rate among massage therapists is just 1.6%.

Fields with a strong job outlook will also tend to have ongoing training opportunities. For instance, clock and watch repair is one of the lowest-rated professions according to current predictions.听 Because demand for this profession is low, fewer continuing education opportunities exist.

There are a few things to keep in mind about the limitations of job outlook data. First, the fact that there is high demand does not indicate market saturation. Your area may have many others with valid credentials, increasing competition for open positions. Secondly, economic factors change, shifting demand. For example, the current presidential administration is de-prioritizing access to solar power (Reuters, 2025). As such, the predicted 52% growth rate for solar photovoltaic installers may decrease (University of the Potomac, para 24).

What is driving the positive job outlook for massage therapists?听

More spas and massage clinics. According to U.S. News and World Report, the growing number of massage businesses is a factor in positive job outlook for massage therapists. (U.S. Best Jobs, n.d.).

Demand for Pain Relief.听 精东传媒 therapy is increasingly sought after as an accepted method of managing pain naturally and safely (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).

Replacing Current LMTs. The BLS suggests that there will be a need to replace workers who are retiring or exiting the massage therapy profession.

Considering a Career in 精东传媒? What the Job Projection Numbers Mean for You.

A positive job outlook suggests educational investment is likely to pay off. If you鈥檝e been dreaming about becoming an LMT, consider this your sign that now is the time. UpUEditEdited 3/6/2026 to include updated information.

While we have posted on the educational and assessment requirements for becoming a massage therapist in the state of Oregon, we鈥檝e never discussed the actual process of applying for a license, which is complex. As this step is crucial in any Oregon massage therapy career, we encourage those working toward LMT status to bookmark this page for easy reference.

What is the process for applying for a massage therapy license in Oregon?

As in most government procedures, there are multiple steps to follow. A helpful frame of mind is to go step by step, crossing off one item at a time.

The (OMBT)has established the following steps to apply for a license of massage therapy:

  • Register your application and submit payment. . The application and background check fee is $147.25.
  • Complete electronic fingerprinting. Follow the instructions from the state for electronic fingerprinting. (See Fingerprinting section below.) By doing your fingerprints when you start your application, you let the OMBT begin your background check immediately.
  • Receive email with login info. After submitting your online registration request and fee, the website will redirect you to your application. You will also receive an email notification with your log-in information, namely your customer ID and a pin.听
  • Complete your online application, including documentation. Fill out your application on the state鈥檚 massage . (See below to learn which documentation is required in the application.)
  • Note: If you said 鈥測es鈥 to any of the character questions on your application, you鈥檒l need to submit documentation and a narrative. So gather court records, arrest reports, and other official documents before starting the application.听
  • Wait for the Board to review. Sit back and kick your feet up as you wait for the Board to look over your application, fees, and supporting documents.听
  • Look for an email with the Jurisprudence Exam login info. The state will send you an email with the link and login you鈥檒l need to fill out the online Jurisprudence Examination.听
  • Pay for your Initial License. If the above steps are completed, the state will send you a payment request for $100-$200. (See section below for costs.)
  • Receive your license! Once your initial license payment is received, your license will be issued as an electronic document via email.

What documentation will I need to apply for my initial Oregon massage therapy license?

Here are the items you鈥檒l need to gather to support your LMT application:

  • Official transcripts, which must be in a sealed envelope
  • A passport-sized color photograph (2鈥漻2鈥) that鈥檚 no more than 12 months old

How do I complete Electronic Fingerprinting for my initial Oregon LMT license?
All new massage therapy license candidates in Oregon must complete a national criminal background check. This process requires electronic fingerprinting, including a $47.25 processing fee paid to the Board when you register your application, as well as a $12.50 fee paid to the fingerprinting service (Fieldprint).听

Here are the steps you鈥檒l need to follow to schedule an appointment for electronic fingerprinting for an Oregon massage therapy license:

  1. Go to 听 and enter the Fieldprint code FPORMassTherapistsDAS.听
  2. Select the 鈥淪chedule an Appointment鈥 button.
  3. Create a new profile by entering your email address under 鈥淣ew Users/Sign Up,鈥 and hitting the 鈥淪ign Up鈥 button. Create a Password, select a security question, and select 鈥淪ign Up and Continue.鈥澨
  4. Fill out the contact and demographic information (which is mandated by the FBI) and select a fingerprinting appointment and location.听
  5. When you鈥檙e done, print the confirmation page, and bring it with you to your fingerprinting appointment, as well as two forms of ID.

Questions about this process may be directed to Fieldprint; their customer service number is 877-614-4364, and their email address is customerservice@fieldprint.com.

How much does it cost to apply for a massage therapy license in Oregon?

As of August, 2022, you can expect to pay $259.75-$359.75 to apply for your Oregon massage therapy license. That breaks down to $100 for the application fee, $47.25 for the fingerprint processing fee, a $12.50 fee for the electronic fingerprint provider, and $135-$270 for the initial license fee. Why the range? Because renewal is based on your birth month and year. If you were born in an even numbered year, you will renew in your birth month even numbered year, no matter when your license was granted. Therefore, the fee is $100 if your first renewal will occur less than 12 months from the date of issuance for your initial license, and $200 if your first renewal will occur more than 12 months from your initial license. Note that these costs do not include your tuition, the costs of your written licensing exam, nor any costs incurred in obtaining your BLS-CPR certification.

If you鈥檙e still in the early days of researching how to become a massage therapist in Oregon, it鈥檚 smart to keep your end goal in mind. Becoming an LMT in the Beaver State requires 625 hours of massage education, a passing score on two different exams, and more, as our article on Oregon massage therapy license requirements explains. Certain portals in history change how we think, live, and act. A world war, for instance, changes everyone who lived through it. COVID may be our era鈥檚 catalytic event. Looking back over the last two years, it is clear that many of us will never be the same. The pandemic has altered nearly every aspect of life, and the workforce is no exception. Let鈥檚 examine how the Great Resignation of 2021 has pushed many people to leave their positions, and why massage careers are attracting many to shift gears.听

What is the Great Resignation?
In 2021, millions of people left their jobs, even though the economic outlook was not rosy. Although the Omicron variant loomed, and higher wages through job-hopping were not guaranteed, many Americans decided to quit. As explains, the labor department calls these 鈥渜uits,鈥 and tracks them month-to-month. Last year earned the moniker The Great Resignation because it broke records for quits. In September, October, and November, more than 4 million people quit each month.

What鈥檚 driving this collective abdication? As with many things economical, there is no simple answer, but data suggests several factors. In historically low-paying jobs, some wage increase occurred, allowing workers to quit for higher wages elsewhere. The service industry falls into this category. In other underpaid industries, such as retail, workers saw that they could switch careers for more pay and better benefits. Parenthood also influenced workers鈥 decisions, with 鈥1.4 million fewer mothers actively engaged with the labor force鈥 in September and October of 2021. Child care uncertainty required parents to stay home with children more frequently.

Overall, The Guardian article finds, there are 鈥渕any reasons to suspect that many quit in search of better work opportunities, self employment, or, simply, better pay.鈥 This conclusion is certainly reflected in the inquiries to our massage school admissions office.

COVID has Changed Priorities, Pulling many toward 精东传媒 Careers

People from all over the country call our Portland, Oregon massage school, asking how to become a massage therapist. We鈥檝e recently fielded calls from as far away as Florida, Minnesota, Canada, and Washington DC. People are talking to our admissions officers about why they鈥檙e massage-certification-curious. Here are the most common sentiments we hear on those calls.

Top 7 Reasons People are Kickstarting 精东传媒 Careers Post-COVID

Common sentiments from people who have contacted the EWC admission department with interest in becoming an LMT include:

  1. 鈥淣ow my job is obsolete.鈥
  2. 鈥淲hat I do is unfulfilling and now I want to do something meaningful.鈥
  3. 鈥淲hy the heck not pivot when I can鈥檛 keep doing what I was doing before?鈥
  4. 鈥淲hen Plan A doesn鈥檛 work, this is a career that will give me usable skills.鈥
  5. 鈥淚鈥檝e just been sitting at home, why not follow through on my dreams?鈥
  6. 鈥淚鈥檝e always worked with people, and now I鈥檓 burnt out. I want a job where people are happy to see me and even happier after their time with me.鈥 We hear this from those who are burnt out from helping professions (such as social work).
  7. 鈥淚鈥檓 looking for a job that feeds my soul, and I鈥檓 not willing to wait anymore.鈥澨

Beyond these personal reasons, this is a practical time to start massage careers because demand is high. Our alumni network reports that current practitioners are extremely busy, with many booked out for months. Following quarantines, people are eager to receive touch. (As a side note, check out our reflections on how Coronavirus quarantines spurred touch deprivation.) Many massage companies are actively hiring, so there is a strong need for massage therapists, particularly knowledgeable and experienced LMTs from top-notch massage schools.听

The bottom line is that many people find this is the perfect time to research massage programs. In Portland, East West College floats to the top. We’re accredited by COMTA, which means that we meet their strict administrative and curriculum standards, and that we’re able to offer federal financial aid to those who qualify. If you find yourself echoed in the statements above, we encourage you to call us at 503-233-6500, or navigate to our massage school admissions website.great resignation

The Coronavirus pandemic has changed life in many ways. With people stuck at home during lockdowns, and enormous changes in workplaces, many are considering lifestyle changes. Priorities and career preferences are changing. The admissions office of our massage school in Portland has fielded many inquiries lately, and we鈥檇 like to share why so many people are curious about earning a massage license at this time.

What鈥檚 Driving Admissions Inquiries at 精东传媒 Schools:
Portland, OR to Portland, ME, people across the country are considering a career in massage. While this is always true, it seems the Coronavirus crisis has caused a major shift in professional choices. Here are some of the factors we believe are driving this adjustment, culled from the epiphanies of recent applicants to East West College of the Healing Arts.

  1. Personal priorities are changing.
The COVID lockdowns slammed the brakes on life as we knew it. With so much time at home, many people reflected on their priorities. The tragedy of the past year brought to focus for many what matters most to them. Why work a job that isn鈥檛 in line with your personal priorities
  2. Many jobs became obsolete.
As the reported last fall, the long term shut down caused tens of thousands of layoffs, in industries such as travel, entertainment, hospitality, non-profit, and retail. More than have filed for unemployment in the past year. And some economists are predicting that many of those positions will not come back. Many recognize unemployment as an opportunity to gain education for a new career. Combine unemployment with a job that no longer exists, and you may say to yourself what we hear from many applicants: 鈥淚 recognize that what I do is not fulfilling and now I want to do something else.鈥 When you can鈥檛 keep doing what you were doing before, why not pivot to something you are passionate about?
  3. Cultivating a Fulfilling Plan B.
Long gone are the days when a single career path provided long-term stability. Today鈥檚 workers recognize the need for several potential professional options. When Plan A doesn鈥檛 work, massage is a career that provides usable, in-demand skills.
  4. A Great Time to Manifest Dreams.
Many of us have been sitting at home for months. Why not use this time to follow through on your dreams? When you look back on this historic era, what do you want to remember? Memories of acquiring a whole new life path would be sweet.
Mory Fontanez, purpose coach and CEO of 822 Group, put it perfectly while speaking with :听 “Crisis is an opportunity. It asks us to pause and look deeply and honestly at all the things we have been doing day in and day out without really thinking about whether those things fulfilled us, played on our strengths, or aligned with our own purpose.”
  5. Hunger for Fulfilling People-Facing Careers.
精东传媒 therapists truly put the 鈥渃are鈥 in 鈥渃areer.鈥 What might surprise you is how many service-oriented individuals discover massage as a rewarding second or third career. For instance, we hear from overworked social workers who are extremely overworked, and ready for a job where people are happy to see them, and even happier when they leave.
  6. A Job that Feeds Your Soul
Watching the past year unfold has been heart-wrenching. Many people are now unwilling to waste their precious time on a job that does nothing more than pay the bills. The pandemic has rearranged priorities, so that many now want a job that feeds their soul. Many people do not want to go back to 鈥渘ormal鈥 or 鈥渂efore times,鈥 as far as work is concerned.

And for those who will retain their previous work, many will continue to work from home, potentially opening time to learn a second career. recently interviewed 4,700 knowledge workers (those who work with data, typically white-collar desk jobs) and found that very few of them (12%) want to return to a 9-to-5 office model. The majority of those interviewed (72%) would prefer a hybrid model, with some at-home work permitted. It is likely that flexible work arrangements will continue, as many business owners have found their teams can be just as productive–if not more productive–while working from home.

Our admissions team hears such comments from people all over, including Florida, Minneapolis, Washington DC, and even Canada. Why are we receiving calls from such far-flung places? It鈥檚 simple: We have a reputation in the massage industry for producing deeply knowledgeable, exceptionally prepared massage school graduates.

We provide COMTA-accredited massage education which equips our alumni to work as medically-informed professionals, not just service providers. If the Coronavirus era has piqued your interest in a massage therapy career, we invite you to call our Portland massage school today at (503) 233-6500, or visit our massage therapy admissions website. Speak with a friendly East West College admissions team member today about making your dreams of an LMT lifestyle come true.
